St. George Municipal Airport was originally established in the late 1930s as a small grass strip airport to serve the local community. Over the years, the airport has grown to become a major regional hub for air travel and commerce. The airport has seen several expansions over time, with new runways, terminals, hangars, and other facilities being added to accommodate larger aircraft and more passengers. In the early 2000s, St. George Municipal Airport underwent a major renovation which included a new terminal building, runway expansion, and improved air traffic control systems. This renovation made St. George Municipal Airport one of the most modern airports in Utah and allowed for increased air traffic from both commercial airlines and private aircrafts. Today St. George Municipal Airport is an important gateway for business travelers and tourists alike who come from all over the world to experience southern Utah’s unique attractions and activities. The airport continues to be an integral part of the local economy by providing jobs for local workers as well as generating revenue from taxes on aviation fuel sales and other fees associated with air travel services at the facility.
