Skopelos
Skopelos is an island that has long lived partially shielded from the worst mass tourism, one reason is natural enough that the only practical way to get here is a 50 minute ferry ride from neighboring Skiathos Island.
Skopelos is an island that meets its tourists with genuine hospitality and here you come to enjoy magnificent scenery and live lazy days in sleepy villages or relax on pleasant bathing beaches.
The previously so relaxing island got a little shock after the musical success of Mamma Mia was filmed, and just Skopelos was chosen as one of the most important areas for the film. This has led to a rush of tourists to follow in “ABBA’s footsteps”. Fortunately, Skopelos has not completely taken care of this, and we expect and hope that the island will soon be back to its old and slightly sleepy style.
