Manchester-Boston Regional Airport Abbreviation Code

Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) has a long and fascinating history. Founded in 1927, it started as the Manchester Airport and was the city’s first municipal airport. The airport was initially used for private aircraft and military training purposes, but its popularity began to grow in the 1930s when commercial airline service became available. The airport continued to grow throughout the 20th century, eventually becoming a major hub for air traffic in New England. In 2006, Manchester Airport was officially renamed Manchester-Boston Regional Airport to reflect its importance as a regional transportation hub.

In 2008, MHT underwent extensive renovations, including expanding its runway to 8,000 feet to accommodate larger aircraft. This expansion allowed MHT to offer flights to more destinations than ever before and increased its passenger volume dramatically. In addition, an on-site hotel opened in 2012 providing travelers with convenient accommodations near the airport. Today, MHT is one of New England’s largest airports with more than 1 million passengers traveling through it each year. It offers direct flights to more than 50 locations across North America and Europe as well as connecting flights around the world through partner airlines such as Delta and American Airlines.
