What is MMO?
MMO is the acronym for Massive Multiplayer Online and represents an online gaming mode where multiple players compete and interact at the same time.
Unlike multiplayer games where the number of players is limited to half a dozen, at most, MMO games allow the interaction of tens, hundreds or even thousands of people at the same time.
The games in MMO arose from the connectivity of the PCs with the Internet, that is, the first games were developed for computers. However, with the evolution of consoles, MMO games are now in the new models of video games, which have connectivity to the world wide web.
MMO and MMORPG
A MMORPG ( Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game ) can be considered an MMO, but an MMO may not always be an MMORPG.
While the MMO is based on games with several simultaneous players, the MMORPG also has this feature, and it also has the same attributes that an RPG (Role Playing Game).
RPG is a game format that does not have a chronological order or pre-defined actions. The player is free to “explore” the entire virtual world of the game, make alternative missions and go customize their own character, throughout the progress of the game.
The MMORPG is therefore the merging of the MMO and RPG formats.
