Orlando International Airport Code

Orlando International Airport (MCO) first opened its doors to the public in 1981. The airport was initially known as McCoy Air Force Base, and it served as a military base during World War II. After the war, it was converted into a commercial airport, and it quickly became one of the busiest airports in the United States. In 2009, MCO underwent a $1.1 billion expansion project which included adding two new terminals, increasing the number of gates from 75 to 120, and adding additional parking for travelers. This expansion project allowed for more flights to be accommodated at MCO and increased the overall passenger traffic at the airport.

Today, Orlando International Airport is one of the busiest airports in Florida and handles more than 44 million passengers each year. It is also home to many airlines including Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, American Airlines and JetBlue Airways. The airport has several amenities such as free Wi-Fi service throughout its terminals, an array of restaurants and shops located both before security checkpoints and after security checkpoints so travelers can easily access them during their layovers or flights out of Orlando International Airport. Additionally, there are over 10 rental car companies that are located onsite so travelers can easily rent vehicles during their stay in Orlando.
