What are UVA and UVB?
UV is the acronym for ultraviolet, which is a type of electromagnetic radiation. Thus, UVA, UVB and UVC are different types of ultraviolet rays and are transmitted from the Sun.
Prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays is quite harmful to humans, and can be responsible for several diseases, including skin cancer, for example.
These rays are invisible, but they are present at all times of the year, be it summer or winter (with higher incidence in the hotter seasons).
To prevent radiation, it is necessary to follow some basic recommendations, such as: use sunscreen daily, do not be exposed to the sun between 10am and 4pm, use sunscreen with a high protection factor – SPF (above 30 FPS ), especially in people with fair skin and children.
UVA
UVA radiation is present throughout the year, reaching human skin almost the same, both in winter and summer. However, UVA radiation is most intense before 10 AM and after 4 PM.
The UVA rays penetrate deep into the skin and are mainly responsible for the aging of skin cells. This radiation also has a share in allergies, and predisposes the skin to the onset of cancer.
However, UVA rays are also responsible for tanning the skin when it is moderately exposed to the sun.
UVA rays are still present in artificial tanning chambers, including at doses higher than solar radiation.

Meaning of UVB
The UVB radiation is partially absorbed by the atmospheric layer of the Earth, the rest of the rays, which can overcome this barrier, is harmful to the human organism.
UVB radiation is more intense during the summer due to the high temperatures, predominantly between 10am in the morning and 4pm in the afternoon. This radiation penetrates the skin superficially and is responsible for sunburn.

Meaning of UVC
Already the UVC radiation is totally absorbed by the oxygen and ozone of the atmosphere, not reaching humans on the surface of the planet.
This radiation is highly penetrating and damaging to health, and humans would have serious problems if it reached the earth’s surface. For this reason, it is very important to protect the ozone layer to prevent these rays from reaching the surface of the Earth.
