Fayetteville Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport (XNA) is located in Northwest Arkansas, just outside of Fayetteville. It was first opened in 1998, replacing Drake Field as the main airport for the area. XNA was built to serve the growing population of Northwest Arkansas and to provide travelers with a convenient option for air travel. The airport has undergone significant expansion since its opening, including the construction of a new terminal building in 2008 and an additional runway in 2011. In addition to providing commercial service, XNA also serves as a hub for corporate aviation and general aviation. In 2017, XNA welcomed more than 1 million passengers for the first time ever due to increased demand from travelers looking for convenient access to Northwest Arkansas’ business centers, universities, and attractions. In addition to serving leisure travelers, XNA also provides easy access to major cities such as Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), and St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL).
