Hartford–Bradley International Airport (BDL) is located in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, and serves the greater Hartford area. It is the second busiest airport in New England after Boston Logan International Airport and has been in operation since 1940. The airport was originally known as Bradley Field, named after Lt. Eugene M. Bradley who was killed in a plane crash during takeoff at the site of the current airport. The airport is located approximately 6 kilometers west of Windsor Locks. The airport can be reached, for example, via Interstate – 91, at exits # 39 and 40, after the exit just follow the airport signs on State Route # 20 to the terminal. There is also access via State Route # 75.
