Hartford – Bradley International Airport Abbreviation Code

Hartford–Bradley International Airport (BDL) is located in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, and serves the greater Hartford area. It is the second busiest airport in New England after Boston Logan International Airport and has been in operation since 1940. The airport was originally known as Bradley Field, named after Lt. Eugene M. Bradley who was killed in a plane crash during takeoff at the site of the current airport. In 1956, the state of Connecticut renamed it to Hartford-Bradley International Airport to better reflect the region’s population base.
