Newburgh – Stewart International Airport is located in Newburgh, New York. It is owned and operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The airport was originally known as Stewart Airport, when it opened in 1930. It was named after Major General Frank C. Stewart, who served in the Spanish-American War and World War I. The airport served as a military base during World War II, and was used by the United States Army Air Forces until 1945. In 1975, the airport was renamed to honor Major General Horace M.
