Location
The airport, originally opened in 1942 under the name Alamo Field and initially operated as a training camp for the US Army Air Force, is located approx. 12 kilometers north of downtown San Antonio. The entrance to the terminals is right at the intersection of US Highway 281 / Interstate I-410.

Passengers arriving by train take the Amtrak’s “Sunset Limited” or the “Texas Eagle” route to San Antonio Rail Station and then change to bus route # 5 (McCULLOUGH) operated by the local public transport company VIA Metropolitan Transit or use the ” Downtown Shuttle “bus. Otherwise, the arrival and onward journey is also possible with a taxi, rental car or limousine.
