The airport, which went into operation in 1958, is located approximately 20 kilometers northwest of the city center in the municipality of Rinas.

From Tirana, take the SH-3/E-852 towards Vore and then SH-1/E-762 towards Fushe-Kruje and then follow the airport signs to the airport premises.

Passengers arriving by train or bus travel to Tirana main station/ZOB and then use the “Rinas Express” from the National Museum. The shuttle bus runs every 60 minutes from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Arrival and departure are also possible by taxi or rental car.
