Akron-Canton Regional Airport (CAK) began operations in 1946 under the name of Akron-Canton Airport. The airport was initially operated by the Canton- Akron Airport Authority, which was formed to oversee the development and management of the facility. In 1963, the airport underwent a major expansion that included a new terminal building, runway, taxiway and parking lot. The expansion allowed for larger aircraft to use the airport and increased passenger capacity from 250 to 1,200 passengers per day. Since then, CAK has seen several additional upgrades including a new air traffic control tower in 1981 and a new concourse in 1983. In 2009, CAK opened its first international terminal to serve flights from Canada and Mexico. The airport has also added several other amenities such as an observation deck in 2016 and upgraded baggage claim facilities in 2017. Today, CAK serves over 2 million passengers each year with direct flights to more than 30 destinations throughout North America.

The airport is located 18 kilometers southeast of Akron, in the neighboring community of Green. The best way to get to the airport for drivers coming from outside the airport is to take Interstate 77. Take I-77 to Exit # 113 and then follow signs for parking.
