What is VHS?
VHS stands for Video Home System. The VHS system consists of a capture and playback of video and audio.
The VHS was created by the JVC company in 1976 and allows to record certain television programs for later viewing. Some of the keys that contributed to its success were the ease of use of the system and the considerable quality presented. The advancement of technology has enabled portable recorders to emerge over time – which when connected to a camera – enabled the capture of videos by the users.
The recordings were made on the magnetic tape that was protected by a plastic box (mostly black), which was the origin of the videocassette name given to the VHS playback device. Subsequently a format known as S-VHS appeared, which showed an improvement in the recording and playback of videos.
Currently, VHS is a completely outdated system, although there are still several people who have tapes and videocassettes. These tapes are very coveted articles by some collectors.
People who still have home and family videos on VHS rely on specialized companies and specific VHS to DVD conversion software, so they can record their memories in a more reliable and enduring system.
VHS and erythrocyte sedimentation
In medicine, VHS is an acronym that means erythrocyte sedimentation rate. VHS is a widely used test in rheumatology and hematology and is a way of measuring the presence of an inflammation or infection in the human body.
Erythrocyte sedimentation is measured by mm / h (millimeter per hour), that is, the number of red blood cells deposited at the bottom of the test tube (when it is stationary) within one hour.
The reference values vary according to the age and gender of each individual, and for individuals younger than 50 years, the reference value is 15 mm / h for men and 20 mm / h for women.
